Motivating, supporting and developing staff is a challenging part of any managers job, but is central to responding to this initiative and adding real value to your team and to the organisation. As your most important resource staff need to be managed effectively.
This event considers the role of both on-going performance management and more formal ‘appraisals’ or ‘performance reviews’ but focuses mainly on the practical aspects of managing performance on a day-to-day basis. The core interpersonal skills needed to lead and manage staff effectively including building rapport, giving and receiving feedback, and choosing an appropriate management style for differing levels of motivation and capability, will be reviewed and practiced. Consideration will be given to evaluating performance, setting objectives, clarifying expectations, reviewing and monitoring progress and identifying and addressing issues promptly.
