Improving Support Team Performance
Effective Leadership to Successful Teams
Intended audience:
All Managers and Team Leaders in Student Services, Counselling, Admissions & Guidance, Adult & Continuing Education, Learning Support, Careers, Administration and Reception.
Focus:
Ofsted and the New Inspection Framework now place greater emphasis on the totality of the student experience, the quality of provision and the effectiveness of your leadership and management.
Support Team Managers and Leaders will be expected to demonstrate that they are managing each and every member of staff effectively. They must ensure that students are getting the best experience possible. It is therefore, more than ever, important that managers have a clear sense of direction and purpose. They must be able to energise and lead their team effectively at all times. If teams are to work together to meet whole college targets and objectives, a team culture which supports an open and honest exchange of ideas and brings all members on board must be developed.
This event will explore the skills and strategies support team leaders and managers need today. It will consider ways to energise and lead teams whilst coping under pressure. It will allow participants to identify clear standards for operation and to clarify methods to ensure that all staff practice a shared way of working.
Participants will have an opportunity to practice skills which build strong team relationships and consider ways to motivate reluctant staffand to encourage individuals to commit to team participation, whilst considering your own goals and priorities.
Purpose:
During this event you will:
- Consider the role of a team leader/manager in Further Education today
- Explore strategies to clearly identify your goals and targets
- Extend your leadership skills to promote positive relationships
- Explore effective communication and develop enhanced practical skills
- Identify ways of taking staff with you to achieve success
