The ABC of Differentiation in the Classroom
Developing Excellence & Quality Improvement in Teaching
Intended audience:
Curriculum Managers, Programme Leaders, Teachers, Advanced Practitioners, Lecturers and Learning Support Staff.
Focus:
Effective learning takes place when the learner uses the most effective learning strategies to learn something they need to learn, at the time they need to.
When there is a good match between teaching and learning strategies used and the individual student’s needs met at that moment, then differentiation takes place and empowers learners to achieve great results.
Differentiation gives fantastic opportunities for students to think for themselves, raise issues of concern, deepen their understanding and work at full capacity. It creates an environment where students are motivated and inspired to achieve their best.
Your trainer, Julie Olsson, has a wealth of practical experience of differentiating in a variety of settings and levels as; performance coach, manager, classroom teacher, facilitator and lead learner. This event will provide you with the necessary understanding, skills and strategies to apply differentiated learning techniques in your classroom.
Purpose:
During this event you will:
- define what is differentiation
- understand how differentiation can be achieved
- use a variety of strategies that both challenge and support students
- review how you can help staff to adapt their approach
A full set of course materials will be provided for delegates to use in their own institutions.
