Building Student Involvement, Attention and Recall
A Practitioners Workshop

Intended audience:

All Teachers, Teacher Trainers, Staff Development Managers, Advanced Practitioners and Learning Mentors who wish to explore ways of building student involvement, attention and recall.

Focus:

Retention and achievement are two key requirements for all colleges. What teachers do in the classroom inevitably has an impact on the student, which in turn affects their attendance, commitment and achievement. Key classroom issues include how to get and keep student’s attention; how to involve students in a way they enjoy; and how to ensure the key learning messages are embedded and retained.

This programme addresses all the above issues. It will focus on ways of achieving attention, involvement and recall, whatever the subject area or topic. It will provide over 80 specific techniques to achieve these three aims, all easy to use, and most needing little or no resource – in fact, one of the themes of the programme is how to achieve the above with creativity and imagination, rather than relying on expensive resources.

The programme itself will be very participative and extremely interactive, and will involve the demonstration of as many of these techniques as is possible within a one day workshop. By the end of the day you should have been involved, attentive and able to fully recall the key learning messages!

Trainer: Arnie Skelton, author of the accompanying manual, which will be provided as part of the course fee. Copies of the manual are available separately at a price of £195.00 for hardcopy or as a licensed cd for £595.00
